Passbolt Emergency KDBX Backup Automation & Failure Analysis
Audited and hardened an emergency credential-export workflow using PowerShell, Passbolt tooling, DPAPI-protected local state, KeePass and KDBX validation, staged files, and atomic replacement concepts.
Reproduced a DPAPI serialization and CRLF handling failure, identified that a successful exporter exit status alone did not prove a complete backup, and designed stronger validation around opening the KDBX, expected entries and state, hashes, file locking, staging, and controlled replacement.
